Here is one of the few iron sandstone walls still visible from the early fourteenth-century quarries, carved into the flanks of Sint-Jansberg. Text and explanation information board. Attention: if you follow the path of another walk, look carefully for the pointer of the quarry path of Natuur & Bos. The quarries were first exploited by the Lords of Diest and then by the Carthusians of the Sint-Jansberg monastery. Among other things, the monastery wall and the monastery itself were built with it. The Begijnhofkerk in Diest was also built with it (the stones were transported in boats via the Demer).
