Hämelschenburg Castle is a great place to take a detour from the Weser Cycle Path. The seven-kilometer detour is well worth it. The tour through part of the castle is entertaining and informative, also with regard to the question "What is the Weser Renaissance?" Afterwards, it is worth stopping off in the castle café.

"The Hämelschenburg Castle is a gem of North German architecture and completely preserved with the church, farm buildings, park and inventory. Guided tours take place. The unique building and art history is explained and the eventful history of a Lower Saxon noble family is authentically presented. The part of the castle Rittergut has been owned by the von Klencke family since 1437 and is managed according to the principle of sustainability. (Source: Hämelschenburg Castle)
