Near the Heppenheim cemetery at the beginning of the art trail. Inscription "Good times - bad times pass both of them"
March 13, 2023
Architectural monument "Good times, bad times fountain" Quote - German Digital Library:
"The free-standing fountain was originally built on the Graben, on the garden wall of the Martin Buber House (Werlestr. 2). It was moved here in 1965. The fountain was donated in 1930 by the local tourist association, and the design was provided by city architect Josef Winter. Centrally in the wall is a mask created by sculptor Philipp August Müller, from whose mouth water flows and one side of whose face appears friendly and content (it is decorated with roses and vines), while the other looks sullen and gloomy (there are thorns and thistles here). This was intended to symbolize the good and bad times that people experience. The ornamental fountain, which belongs in the urban context both because of its structure and because of its message, is of artistic and historical value."Source: deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/item/LKUYU2NJ6UDVZIFRCPLK7YZFBQ5KVFNN
