The Carolingian west work with its frescoes from the 9th century is of importance in terms of architectural history. The former abbey church is a monument of baroque art. In the cemetery next to the church lies the grave of the poet of the German national anthem, Hoffmann von Fallersleben. Inside the palace you can visit the Imperial Hall, the ducal salons and the Princely Library with around 74,000 volumes.
