As part of the pedestrian zone and surrounded by numerous street cafes and restaurants, the Paradeplatz is the meeting place for young and old, locals and visitors.
The Paradeplatz, popularly known as the “City Salon”, was designed by Sebastian van Noyen from Utrecht and completed in 1671 under Governor Jean Charles de Landas.
The French troops of Louis XIV planted linden trees, paved the square and used it as a parade ground.
Nowadays, open-air concerts are organized here in the summer and the Christmas market in the winter.
