The spa park in the Bindersbacher Tal with small lakes, beautiful walking paths, a children's playground, water basin and a mini golf course is dedicated to Markward von Annweiler (1140-1202). He was Margrave of Ancona and Count of Abruzzo, Imperial Regent of Sicily and the tutor of the Hohenstaufen Emperor Henry VI. That is why the spa park is also called Markwardanlage.
The starting point of the hiking trails around Annweiler am Trifels, such as the Palatinate Weinsteig, the Annweilerer Burgenweg and the Richard Löwenherz Weg, is also at the lake.
