Playa de Cofete

One of the most beautiful and for many people THE most beautiful beach on Fuerteventura. Due to the strong current you should not go into the water, although there are always people doing it. But it is ok with the feet. It can be very hot here, but also very windy. In strong winds, it is advisable to go a bit towards El Islote peninsula, because here you are protected from the mountains more from the wind. Cofete beach can be reached via the Jandia massif, by car or bike (very narrow streets) or twice a day (10am and 2pm) with a small off-road bus from Morro Jable. In Cofete there is a small restaurant.

The Playa de Cofete is a 10 km long sandy beach in the southwestern part of the island. Bathing is very dangerous here, as on the whole west coast. The almost always present strong surf and unpredictable undercurrents bring every swimmer in mortal danger. Even those who only go a few meters into the water, feel the unbridled violence and the pull of the incoming waves.
