Late Baroque town hall on Maximilianstrasse.
The town chancellery, which dates back to the 15th century, had previously stood on this site, but was destroyed in the Palatinate War of Succession in 1689. Only after the population that had fled returned after the Peace of Ryswyk in 1697 could the reconstruction of Speyer begin. The town hall was built between 1712 and 1726. The halls on the upper floor are decorated with ceiling paintings by the Speyer painter Georg Dathan. The council chamber, designed in the early Rococo style, is now used for chamber concerts.
