In the years 1531 - 1533 the "old vicarage" was built for the first evangelical pastor, Heilmann Bruchhausen von Krombach, next to the town church. The builder was Count Willhelm der Reiche, who introduced the Reformation in the Nassau-Dillenburger Land from 1530. (He was the father of William I of Orange). Johann Bernhard Gottsleben, who was pastor at the town church from 1634 to 1635, probably also lived in this house. During the great plague (1635/36), his wife and all his children died within just three weeks before he himself fell victim to the disease in November 1635.
