The archive building on the former "Paradeplatz" and today's "Europaplatz" was built from 1763 with stones from the destroyed castle and was the first Nassau archive to be occupied in 1766. During the Napoleonic era (1806 - 1813) the building was completely rebuilt and set up as a palace of justice. Later, the district court was based here for many years before the criminal inspectorate moved in in 1971. An episode from the time when this building was still used as an archive is to be passed on here: During an inspection in 1785, the then archive director of Rauschard discovered that the archive clerk, who was known to be an alcoholic, had original files under his had stacked firewood. How much of the valuable written "fuel" had already gone up in smoke through the chimney could not be determined at the time. It was also suspected that the clerk had also issued files to children who, among other things, used the paper to make bird's nests. After the acquisition by private investors and a thorough renovation, the youth welfare office of the Lahn-Dill district moved into the premises in 2015.
