The castle park is beautifully maintained, there are sculptures, great green areas with old trees. The beautiful peonies are blooming now, I love them. The planetary garden is also great to look at.

The Eggenberg Palace Park, with its generously designed groups of trees and meadows as well as its picturesque scenery, still bears witness to a park poetry that has only been preserved in a few places in Austria as originally as it was imagined in the 19th century. After 1810, Eggenberg Palace was only inhabited for a few weeks a year. Under Johann Hieronymus Graf Herberstein and his wife Marie Henriette, the major transformation of the formal Baroque garden into the English-style landscape garden that still exists today began.

After 1820, Jérôme Graf Herberstein, a young garden enthusiast, had the Silesian gardeners Franz Matern and Friedrich Wägener create a landscape in the English style that was to embody the ideal of his time: a perfect landscape painting modelled on the diversity of nature.
