The Rocca di Ravaldino, also known as the Rocca di Caterina Sforza is a fortified citadel located in the city of Forlì. Of medieval origin but rebuilt and strengthened in the fourteenth century by both the Ordelaffi and Egidio Albornoz and enlarged during the fifteenth century, it is now partly used as an exhibition venue, while a large area houses the city's prisons. The name Ravaldino derives from the presence of a fortification called Bonzanino, in all probability a ravelin (hence the subsequent evolution into Ravaldino), a sort of rudimentary fort, which stood in the area of the homonymous gate.(Source: museionline.info/castelli-italiani/rocca-di-ravaldino )
