The beating tower marks the northwest corner of the city fortifications. It was built as part of the construction of the city wall from 1488. The elongated barred window that is still visible on the upper floor of the tower represents the exit onto the battlements of the wall and illustrates the height of the former city wall. There is now a transformer station in the tower.
