The lido in Farmsen is an oasis of relaxation in the heart of Hamburg. Here, the whole family can spend relaxing time in nature, swimming, enjoying delicious food and drinks,
and escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
This family-friendly natural pool has been operated on a voluntary and non-profit basis by the "Verein Strandbad Farmsen e.V." (Farmsen Beach Association) since July 6, 1988. The former Hamburg Waterworks wanted to close the lido in 1987 due to its unprofitability.

In the interests of the local community and residents of Farmsen and the surrounding districts, the association took over its operation.

The natural outdoor pool was created around 1900 from a former clay pit. It is characterized by its idyllic location with a large tree population, clean water, and a roughly 200-meter-long sandy beach. There is a large water slide, a large bouncy castle, a beach volleyball court, and plenty of play equipment for all ages, which continually captivates children.
The water is regularly sampled by the Wandsbek Health and Environmental Office and complies with the requirements of the EU Water Framework Directive.

A so-called "PELICON" system currently in operation filters problematic pollutants from the water to further improve water quality.

The lido has high recreational value and is an important social, friendly, and community meeting place for generations and cultures in the district.
