Sure-footedness and good hiking boots required, breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier and the surrounding mountains along the way. Exhausting but absolutely worthwhile and worth seeing!

Fantastic place! Some climbing required, not difficult, but you need to watch your steps very carefully. Not suitable for small children

The starting point is the Bettmerhorn gondola lift. From here the Unesco Höhenweg begins.
The route is more or less a "tightrope walk" (from the Bettmerhorn summit) and leads partly exposed but well secured in the direction of the Eggishorn.
Key points are secured with steps and fixed ropes in the rock and can be mastered without major difficulties for experienced mountaineers. (Provided that you are sure-footed and have a head for heights).
If you are fit and started early, you can also extend the tour over the Eggishorn (including a detour to the summit).
We made a round trip out of it and hiked back to the Bettmerhorn via the Märjelensee and along the Aletsch Glacier.
The fog/drizzle/snow was especially exhausting that day, so we were glad to have reached the gondola in time. Because the last ascent in particular is very condition-demanding. And it is precisely there that the times on the signs are really "tight".
If the weather is good, the tour should be doable.
