The tunnel allows you to avoid the ascent to the crest of the mountain to go from Fiescheralp to the Aletschgletscher, it is quite long (about 1km) and slippery inside.
If heading towards the glacier, coming out of the tunnel you will find the imposing Märjelensee on the right, with its dam towards the glacier, and on the left the small lakes created by the weak stream, where it is easy to meet flocks of sheep at the pasture.
The Gletschertube refuge remains the one closest to the glacier, excellent if you plan to undertake excursions on ice or caving, for which it is necessary to stop at least one night.
