Hiking Highlight
Breathtaking and awe-inspiring - experience the glacier up close and enjoy it with humility 😊

I was there in mid-September and the gorge was dry, so it was possible to go down to the cavity that gives the underground access to the glacier (impassable without equipment) a little with difficulty along the stone.
Beware of damp stones and smooth and slippery stone slabs.

If you go to Fiescheralp instead op Eggishorn you have a very nice panoramic path, where you can enter the Aletschgletsjer. It's really a must see!

From the main route there is the possibility to descend along a stony ground to get to the glacier.
The path is very steep and slippery, as a small stream bathes the boulders, and the further you go down the more the size of the stones grow, until they become huge slabs of stone.
Essential stiff shoes with a nice grip!Enjoy the show and don't go into the glacier without equipment (or a guide)!

The cave that opens below the glacier is impressive.
From here it is impossible to go without equipment and I imagine without a guide.
Super attention in going down to here, the water flows over the rocks, which become slippery and unstable.

The way to the edge of the Glacier is difficult to walk. There is actually no way you have to go down somehow. And the way gets further and further, as the glacier is over 10 meters further down each year. If you visit the glacier every year at least, you can clearly see it.

If you have the opportunity and can go on a glacier hike, do it! It was one of the big highlights of the season. As a person one becomes small next to this mighty and beautiful nature !!!
