Hiking Highlight (Segment)
A lovely valley that has been protected since 1995. The distance from the source, in the small town of Lautern, to the mouth in the blue at Blaustein is only a few kilometers. The clear water of the Lauter is home to crayfishes, snails, brown trout and bullheads. Dragonflies live in the shore area. The meadow valley offers habitats for a large variety of plants and animals, some of which are endangered or even threatened with extinction. You can walk beautifully on the valley trail from Blaustein-Herrlingen to the spring in Lautern, and back again. Before returning you can still strengthen in the inns lamb or crown.

The source pot of the small volume is very romantic. The Lauter flows past old mills, there you can see the old weirs that feed the mill streams. The louder itself flows in its unregulated bed. For children who are careful, there are elves and colorful stones to discover. A very nice way.
