Protected landscape area "Kleine LauternTal."
From the train station Blaustein (Herrrlingen) heading north, the hike starts through the small Lauterntal valley. First follow the mountain road then left into the Oberherrlingerstr. turn right, then follow the Lauterntalweg. Now you can walk through the valley to the source of the Lauter (about 6 km)
The Lauter rises in Lautern, in a karst spring, the Lautertopf. This has an average bed of 600 liters per second and is one of the strongest sources of the Swabian Alb. Next to the source is the old pumping station, which supplied drinking water to several communities as early as 1873.
In Lautern, one then returns to "Zum Lamm".Opening hours:
