The approx. 12 m high Gumpenturm (also Stork's Nest Tower) with an edge length of approx. 5 m corresponded in its appearance to the witches' tower and is located at the north-eastern and at the same time deepest corner (on the Main side) of the city fortifications and stands at an angle to the city wall. Its name derives from the Middle High German word "Gumpe", which means something like "water hole". The Obernburg Chronicle states: "On February 17, 1892, the wall from Adelberger's garden to the "Turm in der Gumpe" had to give way. The former crenellation is already removed on drawings from around 1850.

The tower consists of simple rubble stones, which were built with little stone work.

Three storeys are still standing upright, two of them arched in a barrel. The third floor is open at the top with a straight end. Access is now in the basement and is about 55 cm above street level. The floor is 1.20 m below the current street level.

On the first floor, the tower has a narrow viewing slit into the city center. On the second floor you can see the rectangular access opening with two corbels for the former platform. Today the Gumpenturm is framed by buildings in such a way that it is difficult to recognize.

The Gumpenturm, also commonly referred to as the stork's nest, stands at the lowest point of the fortification and its appearance corresponded to the Witch's Tower.
