"Ferryman get over"
With the sculpture group "Fährmann hol 'über" by the Speyer artist Georg Günther Zeuner, the Speyer Tourist Association made a contribution to the city's 2000th anniversary. The almost two meter high bronze sculpture of the emperor and the ferryman was erected in 1987 in the cathedral garden, in the bed of a former arm of the Rhine and directly in the shadow of the cathedral. There they remind of the old legend according to which the deceased emperors came to the aid of the empire.
