Two trails that meet about 100 meters below the summit, lead to the south side of the mountain and there in sweeping the steep, partly also rocky meadows up. Starting point of the western trail is the Vilser Scharte at 1817 m altitude, which can be reached from the west by the Füssener Jöchl (gondola lift from Grän) or from the north by the Vilser Alm. The southern path leads from the Otto Mayr Hut in the Reintal to the summit. Sure-footedness is needed to master the last steep slope that climbs to the summit. In winter, the southern climb to the Großer Schlicke is a popular ski tour.

On the way to the Big Seals we saw a pack of chamois (at least 30 pieces)

From the Vilser Alp the ascent takes about 2.5 hours. The ascent is more challenging than the ascent of the Otto Mayr hut and requires good surefootedness. In the ascent to the Vilser Scharte is a somewhat exposed, cable insured rock level to master.
