The prayer bell was cast in 1707 on behalf of all residents and hung in a free-standing wooden frame. She rang the bell for prayer three times a day. After fires broke out, it took on the important function of alerting people to the extinguishing work. Even today, the ten-minute bell rings for every deceased inhabitant of Gödestorf.
