"... The Church of St. Michael is a Roman Catholic local church in Velbert-Langenberg. It belongs to the parish of St. Michael and Paulus Velbert in the District Deanery of Mettmann in the Archdiocese of Cologne.

    Story:
The chapel built in Langenberg between 1725 and 1727 was replaced between 1899 and 1900 by a new building based on designs by Joseph Prill (1852–1935) and which still stands today. It is a neo-Gothic red brick basilica with a polygonal chancel, transept with turret and projecting tower. The church was consecrated in honor of Archangel Michael.

    Furnishing:
The high altar shows the carved scenes of the Miraculous Multiplication and the Last Supper. In the same style, the left side altar shows Mary with the baby Jesus as well as Anna teaching Mary and Joseph teaching the baby Jesus and the right side altar shows Joseph and Jesus with his father in his workshop while Mary is working on the spinning wheel, and the death of Joseph between the adult Jesus and Mary. Other altars are the Maria auxiliary altar and the altar of Antonius von Padua.
On the wall of the baptistery there are figures of the four evangelists, taken from the pulpit of the first chapel. 19 of the 21 church windows have depictions: Archangel Michael (three windows in the sanctuary), Agnes, Ursula, Elisabeth, Anna, Maria Immaculata, Engelbert, Francis of Assisi, Emperor Henry II, Joseph, Jesus as Good Shepherd (nave), Jesus' work of redemption, Jesus' resurrection (transept), Charles Borromeo, Mary Intercessor, Peter, Francisca of Rome (side entrances). The Way of the Cross is painted in the Nazarene style. On the right side of the church is a modern way of the cross made up of pictograms. The five bells from 1900 could be reinstalled in 1947.
Today's organ was built in 2002 by the organ builder Karl Göckel. It is a romantic organ with 26 registers and 1661 pipes. ..."
