The Hohenzollern Bridge is the busiest railway bridge in Germany with around 1,500 train journeys per day.
The Italian custom of love locks has been spreading rapidly on the 409 m long bridge since 2008. Meanwhile, the number of castles was estimated at over 500,000.
According to estimates, the weight of the locks is well over 100 tons, but this should not pose a threat to the bridge's statics. The steel structure itself has a total weight of 24,000 tons.
