The section of the Rhine in Cologne's urban area can be crossed over seven bridges. The Rhine bridges were built in the 1950s to 1970s. In addition to the Zoobrücke, the Cologne cable car also crosses the Rhine at this point. Built and put into operation for the Federal Horticultural Show in 1957, the gondolas still transport people to the other side of the Rhine today (no bicycles are taken).
