The cap windmill (commonly called bovenkruier in the Netherlands, top-slewing, that is, with a rotatable hood or cap) is the most advanced development of the classic windmill. This type of windmill displaced the previously built windmills in the 16th century, especially in the Netherlands and northern Germany. While Dutch windmills were mainly used as grain mills in the rest of Europe, in the Netherlands they served mainly as wind pumps for dewatering the polders.
Great photo opportunity, the mill is walkable and you have a great view from above.
