The church in its current appearance was built in 1873 after the third town fire in 1869. At that time, the market was redesigned at the same time. The history of the church is closely linked to the history of the town of Frauenstein.
During my visit, only the first entrance door was open, so that I could at least catch a glimpse of the second glass door into the interior of the church.

The Protestant town church (also called Zu Unserer Lieben Frau) is a hall church in Frauenstein (Ore Mountains) in the district of Mittelsachsen in Saxony, built in the round arch style. It belongs to the parish of Frauenstein in the Freiberg church district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony. The old town church of Frauenstein, dating from around 1490, was destroyed by fire in 1869, which also destroyed the organ with 20 stops on two manuals and pedal, built in 1738 by Gottfried Silbermann. The previous organ was also built by Silbermann (solely at cost price) for his hometown in 1711 and was also destroyed in a fire in 1728.[1] The new building was constructed between 1871 and 1873 according to a plan by Emil Alwin Gottschaldt, using the remains of the previous building; the tower was built according to a plan by Karl Moritz Haenel. Restorations were carried out in the years 1968–73 and 1989–93.

The building is a plastered structure with a three-sided chancel, covered with a hipped roof and illuminated by round-arched windows. A massive four-story west tower features a round-arched sandstone portal; the sacristy is attached to the south side.
The tower basement is closed off by cross-ribbed vaults. The hall has a flat roof, with a transom vault in the central section, which is decorated on the sides with ornamental grisaille painting and putti. Galleries are set on three sides, with two stories on the north and south sides. See: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stadtkirche_Frauenstein
