Statue made by Josuë Dupon. Until around 1956, it adorned the Kunstberg in Brussels together with the sculpture group 'Man with the sea snail' by G. Devreese. Following the construction of the Albertina library and the Congrespaleis, the statues, made by the artists from West Flanders, were transferred to Bruges. The artwork Man with Pelican, which was made available to the city council on permanent loan, was placed near the roundabout (Unescoplein) and the Boeveriepoort.
