On the front of the obelisk is written:
"This road was built in 1837 under the government of Grand Duke Leopold the Benevolent. District forester Kissling of Baden-Baden designed and managed the road construction together with the foreman Belzer of Weissenbach."
Engraved on the back:
"Dedicated in grateful memory by Grand Duke Friedrich 1891."
