Wonderful view from the beer garden to the valley of the Murg. In addition, some interesting hiking trails cross here. I enjoy the view with my little evening round with the road bike.

Leading a stop in road bike gear is the "beer garden" (in the restaurant's mouth the "plane-tree terrace") maybe a bit bad. Nevertheless, there is delicious food and a great view.

For me, a place that I have been visiting for many years to stop and just to enjoy. This view over the Murg Valley has done to me.

Here in the beer garden of Schloss Eberstein you will find the best way to take a short or long break. Whether a coffee, cake or a small meal for your physical well-being with the best view is taken care of.

Eberstein Castle, also known as Neu-Eberstein or Neueberstein, is a castle in Gernsbach-Obertsrot in the Rastatt district of Baden-Württemberg. It is originally a spur castle of the Counts of Eberstein with a shield wall on the slope, the mountain side of which was reinforced by the rectangular keep. The complex was expanded several times and converted into a country palace by the ruling family of Baden at the beginning of the 19th century. Today Eberstein Castle serves as a hotel, restaurant, winery and private residence.

The castle, built in 1272 by the Count of Eberstein, has belonged to the Margrave of Baden since the 17th century. In 2000 it became privately owned and has been lovingly restored.

Today the castle is a 4 star superior hotel with 14 rooms. Wine lovers and connoisseurs will also get their money's worth in the gourmet restaurant and in the castle tavern. Awarded with a star in the Michelin Guide, Bernd Werner creates an original, light, Baden-French gourmet cuisine. From the terrace you have a wonderful view over the castle's own vineyards and the Murgtal. The main grape varieties are Riesling and Pinot Noir.

The ascent to Schloss Eberstein from Gernsbach has an alpine character. The ride past rock faces is great fun

It's pretty cute up here. Unfortunately, the typical guests with their wide, expensive cars seem completely irritated when a cyclist is standing or pushing in the parking lot. In any case, you have to be a little careful that they don't hit you against the bike.

For me, the best way to get to the castle is coming from the Nachtigall and then rolling the gently sloping road to the castle before descending to Gernsbach. Be careful on the descent: the road surface is miserable.

A hiking trail also leads from the castle down to Gernsbach. There you pass the Grafensprung, a cavalryman is said to have jumped from the rock with his horse into the Murg a long time ago...... a legend? The Klingele chapel is also on the way. Insight is worthwhile. I was told that real Murg valleys live behind it (upstream).
