Paul Dolnstein himself reported his participation and injury during the siege of the Dutch Montfort in Saxon service under Albert the Courageous in 1491. From 1494 to 1496, Dolnstein directed the construction of the Elbe Bridge in Torgau as a bridge builder and construction accountant in the service of Elector Frederick III of Saxony.
