The Steipe is a Gothic building on the main market in Trier.
The predecessor of the Steipe known today was already called Stype (Trierian for support) and is the oldest Trier community center, which was already used as a town hall for a time in the 14th century.[1] The Steipe was built around 1430 as a festival and reception building for the citizenship at the confluence of Fleischstraße and Dietrichstraße in the main market and was extensively rebuilt between 1481 and 1483.

The "Old Town Hall" fits in wonderfully with the front of the historic buildings on the main market. With today's use as a café, outdoor gastronomy is also included. Here you can linger and watch the hustle and bustle on the main market.
