In 2004, the organization of the State Garden Show on the Petrisberg served to develop the location-related deficits in connection with the conversion-related challenges in a sustainable manner. Luxembourg also presented itself at the State Garden Show. The city commissioned the office of the renowned architect François Valentiny (* 1953) to design a large sculpture. The Tower of Dreams and Longings was a gift from the City of Luxembourg to its neighboring city of Trier and, as a sign of cooperation, should remain as a prominent point on the Petrisberg even after the end of the show.

In the middle of a small grassy hill, the steel colossus rises over sixteen meters and serves as a viewing platform for visitors.
