The present name of the shelter comes from 1895, when the Silesian Section of the MKE, with its seat in Wrocław, built a shelter on the south-west bank of Wieliczka Pond and called it the "Silesian House". The building was enlarged and redone in the years 1907–1909, 1943 and 1957–1962, but on November 29–30, 1962 it burned down completely. In its place in the years 1966–1968 the present hotel was built.

Currently, a 7 km asphalt road leads to the hotel - perfect for a bicycle test (10% slope) and a number of hiking trails. At the shelter, there are also chargers for electric cars, including Tesla.
