Location: Ummerstadt, Hildburghausen, Thuringia, Germany
In addition to a completely preserved city center (suitable as a film set), Ummerstadt is significant as the smallest city in Thuringia, the smallest in the Franconian region and the second smallest in Germany.

Very well preserved half-timbered houses frame the marketplace with fountain from 1687.

If you like half-timbered houses, you have to go to Ummerstadt! Here you will find it in the best Franconian version, even if the Heldburger Unterland still just about belongs to Thuringia. Whether on foot or by bike, the town can be reached from Bad Colberg using the shortest route on the cycle path after a good two kilometers. Alternatively, there are slightly longer routes through the hilly landscape to the left and right of the valley through which the Rodach River flows. Hectic, unrest, urban conceit, all of this seems far away here, even more so than anywhere else in the country. Maybe it's the distance from the big roads, the lovely landscape or the mood of the people. Anyway, it's nice here.
