The Mandelholstalsperre is a little overshadowed by the large dams in the Harz Mountains, such as Rappbode or Wendefurth. Wrongly so, because it offers hikers a special treat. Usually only partially filled, as it is intended for flood protection, there is an imposing meadow landscape at the end of the dam. And the panoramic view is not to be scoffed at either! And the big plus point: Nothing is overcrowded here!
