One of Denmark's most beautiful coastal hiking trails runs along the northern shore of the Flensburg Fjord. The charming Gendarme Path stretches 84 kilometers from Padborg to Høruphav.
The special appeal of the route is that you almost always hike near the Baltic Sea coast, sometimes right on the beach. The elevation changes are small - there are only a few hills on the first stage from Padborg to Sønderhav - and the route mostly consists of good paths and forest roads. The Gendarmenpfad is extensively signposted (blue man on a white background) and is also suitable for beginners. It is no coincidence that the path runs directly along the coast: Danish gendarmes used to patrol here on the hunt for smugglers. A hike is particularly worthwhile in spring, when trees and rapeseed are in bloom and lambs are romping about in the meadows.ndr.de/ratgeber/reise/flensburg_schlei/Der-Gendarmenpfad-Wandern-an-der-Flensburger-Foerde,wandern298.html

The gendarme path "Gendarmstien" leads from Padborg near Flensburg to Høruphav near Sønderborg on approximately 74 kilometers, mostly along the Flensburg Fjord. Part of the trail is part of the European long-distance hiking trail E6. The section presented here leads from the German-Danish border at Kupfermühle through a wonderful beech forest to Krusau "Kruså".
