On the site of the current “De Gouden Molen” there was originally a mill with a house of the standard mill type, owned by the Lord of Rossum.
Historically it is known that in 1532 the Duke of Gelre granted the "grinding right" to this Lord of Rossum. Also a historical fact is a letter from 1613, in which the Molenaar van Bruchem complains to the Heer van Rossum about “the shutting down of the mill”.
