  • This building was rebuilt in 1532 on the neighboring Augustinian cemetery. At the end of the 16th century it underwent major Renaissance-style renovations, during which the paintings and epigrams that have now disappeared adorned the external façade. In 1595 a statue symbolizing justice adorned the new façade. After the sovereign council moved into the building in 1698, it was renovated in several stages. Its current neoclassical facade was made during works between 1769 and 1771.Originally, the building was used for the meetings of the patrician Wagkeller, from 1532 the meetings of the magistrate took place here, which until then had met in the department store. Louis XIV stayed here during his visits between 1681 and 1683. From 1698, the Sovereign Council of Alsace, founded in 1657, was constituted in this building. The district court is currently located in the building.A niche containing a replica of the Manneken Pis was built on the façade facing Rue des Augustins. This figure, originally located in front of the Stadtbad, is a gift from the city of Brussels in 1922 and is intended to commemorate the suffering the two cities endured during the German occupation.
