A beautiful memorial site on a hiking trail near the zoo that commemorates the crash of a World War II pilot. The memorial site should be worth a visit for every hiker and biker.

On November 25, 1944, a Ju88 crashed near Mehlmeisel due to icing. The pilot Fritz Mang lost his life. On-board radio operators and on-board mechanics were able to save themselves by parachute. The memorial consists of a granite cross.
