Beautiful source on the northeastern slope of the Ochsenkopf near Bischofsgrün. Good accessibility, as well as opportunities to relax (benches, etc.). The White Main unites west of Kulmbach with the Red Main and flows at Mainz in the Rhine.
10.5 hectare, artificially created storage pond, natural outdoor pool and with its surrounding facilities such as boating, lawn, children's playground, sports fields and circular trails a popular recreational area.
Chiselled into the granite of the Ochsenkopf summit we find two landmarks. The first in the northwestern summit area in a rock, the second a little further below the trail towards Bischofsgrün. Both seem to be relatively old.
Wonderful, natural way directly on the White Main. Moss-grown rocks, lively rippling, crystal-clear water ... you can really dream when hiking. Which is not so cheap, because the way but requires a lot of attention.
Very nice restaurant which is very nice on the Fichtelsee. The food is good and reasonably priced for the location.
There are various events throughout the year. It's best to have a look at the website am-fichtelsee.de
The Fichtelseemoor is a major raised bog. In the relict of the last ice age, between 8,000 and 10,000 years old, under the barren conditions, a unique flora and fauna typical of the raised bog developed.
