Andreas Schotel is mainly known for his Rotterdam and Brabant etchings, but the female nude is also a common thread through his oeuvre.Mies Gips (1898-1991), whom he married in Rotterdam on April 16, 1920, served as the model for the early etchings from the early 1920s. Immediately after the Second World War, Magdaleen Rademaker (1924-2010) became his student. She will be the model for many later etchings with nudes. The classic work depicts a bathing woman in three poses and finds its inspiration in the etchings and watercolors of Andreas Schotel in which he depicted nudes.
