The unnamed master builder who had the Old Town Hall built in 1717 already knew how to process the basalt lava stone typical of Mayen and create a real architectural monument. Particularly worth mentioning are the window fronts.
The entrance front also leaves an unforgettable impression. Four semicircular steps lead to the portal, framed by mighty columns and very similar to the entrance to Genovevaburg, which was designed by Ravensteyn.
The city coat of arms above the entrance, above it, the balcony supported by consoles with a beautiful parapet. At attic height, the square clock tower with its octagonal structure and high sound openings stands out from the slate-covered hipped roof.
The eye-catcher on this side of the Old Town Hall is the artistically designed dial of the town hall clock.
The registry office is also located here, so you can also get married here.
