The newly designed riverbed of the Erft is showing positive developments. Since its construction less than three years ago, the area has changed significantly. Natural features such as pools, gravel bars, and steep banks are now present. The vegetation along the banks has become denser, and the first willows are visible on the islands. The dynamic flow of the river has led to the formation of a diverse community of animals and plants.
