If you are at Lichtenberg Castle, you can take the museum with you - I wouldn't go there extra. Since we stayed in the youth hostel at the castle and got the Pfalz Card for it, the visit was even free of charge for us.

The GEOSKOP at Lichtenberg Castle is the first paleontological museum in Rhineland-Palatinate – with fossils, dinosaur finds, and fascinating insights into the prehistoric Palatinate. It is located in the modern information center of the mighty Thallichtenberg Castle ruins.

Tip: Ideal for changeable weather or as a family highlight after touring the castle. Particularly impressive: the original finds from the Rotliegend rock – including a 290-million-year-old prehistoric dinosaur from the Kusel Basin.
