At the confluence of Bärenbach and Auersbach was the village of the same name, which were abandoned as other settlements in the 15th century.

So here also begins the "Valley of Silence".

Two streams form the northern boundary of Dennweiler-Frohnbach. First the Bärenbach up to its confluence with the Auersbach and then the Auersbach up to where it flows into the Kaueralbbach. Both streams have their origins in the Auersbach forest area in the Baumholder district. At the point of their confluence lies the old village and deserted town of Auersbach. The village of Auersbach could not exist because it was not in a happy place, because the grounds here are enormous and the mountains are very high and so desolate and stony that bears stayed in these places years ago, like this one Bärenbach therefore got its name. It is impossible to say when and for what reasons the village of Auersbach became a deserted area, when and for what reasons so many other villages in the Baumholder district went under. The process of desertification is probably a gradual process, beginning with the impoverishment of peasants in the 15th century and accelerated by war and disease. In the feud with the Electoral Palatinate, almost 400 villages, hamlets and farmsteads in the Duchy of Palatinate-Zweibrücken were reduced to rubble from 1504. The plague that swept through the Oberamt Lichtenberg in 1565 took away a great many people, even whole families. Whether other causes contributed to the desolation of so many localities cannot be said. The Auersbach settlement was located here. Abandoned in the 16th century. An idyllic place for a break.
