"The Eschenau chapel is the first chapel in the parish of Schupbach whose date of construction is known: in 1302 the Lords of Greifenstein, patron saints of the Schupbach parish church, and the Archbishop of Trier allowed the building and endowment of a chapel in Eschenau by Bela von Runkel, an unmarried daughter of the Lords of Runkel. The chapel was the church of a St. John's order house from 1314 to 1340. It was dedicated to John the Baptist and had its own chaplain in 1473. Not far from the chapel there has been a Lahn marble bridge since the end of the 19th century, which crosses the Kerkerbach leads.""Eschenau Chapel". In: KuLaDig, Culture.Landscape.Digital.
