Hiking

The village is idyllically situated at the foot of the Kösseine. Kleinwendern has been certified as an Archedorf since 2019. Old, endangered breeds of domestic animals are preserved here and made familiar to people. In mid-March 2022, eleven breeds and around 215 animals were counted from seven animal keepers.

Kleinwendern near Bad Alexandersbad is the first village in Bavaria to receive the certificate of recognition as an "Arche-Village" and now bears this title. Viewed nationwide, Kleinwendern is now the second town to receive this title, and soon this will also appear on the place-name signs. The reason for this is the constant effort of the villagers to keep old and endangered animal breeds alive and in their stock.
