The Staupitzsteg already existed as a wooden bridge with a roof in the Middle Ages. It was not until 1965 that this footbridge, which had been repaired several times, was replaced by an iron footbridge without a central pillar. Just a few years later, the footbridge was closed due to dilapidation. Rebuilt in 1983, maintenance work has also recently been necessary.
